Gone are the days of posting letters and postcards by mail, to convey messages and greetings. It has become so outdated that people have started calling it 'snail mail.'
The demand on time is very high nowadays. With technology coming into every sphere of life and job, we can and are expected to complete more number of tasks. With this development, everyone is expected to be able to use technological advances and become more productive.
Productivity is measured by how much one can do in a period of time. If the time taken to convey your messages or information to others is measured in number of days, your productivity is not something to write home about.
On the other hand, if you can make use of technology and send messages in a matter of minutes maybe even seconds, you and your productivity is going to be valued.
I know you will agree with me on this one.
Businesses value productivity more than anyone else, and have realised the importance of technological advances like email in magnifying productivity of employees.
Among other advantages, Inter-departmental communication is made easier, less time consuming and possible at anytime, anywhere.
A majority of email users have accounts by free email service providers like Yahoo!, Gmail, Hotmail etc.
Users are offered basic email functionality by these providers. They have to choose their email ID and password.
Once this is done, they have access to their email accounts.
Every user has a different user name or email ID, but the email domain is same for everyone. This fact does not make a difference to me using email for personal purposes, but businesses think different and have different needs.
